Don’t be too concerned with chain jumping on the cassette – as new cables settle in they stretch a little, which causes the tension on the derailleur to get out of whack. A quarter turn or two on the adjustment barrel to tighten it up would have been all that was needed. Pretty much always happens no matter what level (or brand) of groupset.
